DERBY F.A.Q.
What is the Swan Derby?
The Swan Derby is a family-friendly fundraiser supporting Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine held annually on Lake Mirror in Lakeland. LVIM is a nonprofit that provides essential healthcare to the medically underserved in Polk County. By attending Swan Derby, you’re not only enjoying the race but also contributing to a vital cause. Join us for a day of fun and philanthropy, making a difference in our community’s health.
What is a Super Ticket?
A Super Ticket offers a chance to win one of twelve exclusive prizes at Swan Derby. Available for purchase both before and during the event, Super Tickets give you entry into the prize draw. Buy as many as you’d like!! Winners are randomly selected throughout the evening of the Swan Derby from a barrel at the main stage, and you don’t need to be present to win!
Why Swan Boat Races?
Lakeland’s abundance of lakes and iconic swans inspire LVIM to host this unique family-oriented outdoor event. It’s a fun-filled day celebrating our city’s beauty while supporting a worthwhile cause—Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine.
Who gets to race in the swans?
♥ Swan Derby Sponsor
Sponsor the Derby and receive amenities based on the level of your donation. Triple Crown and above sponsor levels allow the sponsor to “own” a Swan Boat for the day of Derby and the sponsor is responsible for providing their two jockeys, for their boat.
Jockeys race in the SWAN DERBY. Each jockey gets ONE jockey badge/ONE VIP admit ticket FROM THE SPONSOR’S TICKET SUPPLY to the VIP Reception in the Magnolia Building. This is a PRIVATE EVENT and is open to those with a jockey badge or a ticket, issued by LVIM.
(If the jockey wants a guest ticket, they must acquire one from a sponsor or purchase one. Tickets are available for purchase ONLY when additional occupancy is available.)
♥ Non-Profit Collaboration
Raise funds for LVIM and your non-profit! Organizations receive a percentage of the funds raised by selling Super Tickets. Super Tickets provide the buyer a chance to win one of 12 prizes valued at over $300 each.

♥ Leaders of Polk
Ten teams, each comprising two jockeys, are carefully selected by the current year’s ‘Mama Swan’ to represent Polk County’s outstanding community business leaders. These teams consist of two energetic go-getters and are required to raise funds for LVIM for ONE month before the event, all while sharing their efforts and antics throughout our community. The winning team receives top fundraiser bragging rights and the jockeys race in the DERBY DASH.
Each jockey gets TWO jockey badges/VIP admit (1 jockey/1 guest) to the Private VIP Reception in the Magnolia Building.
