Public Grant Awarded

LVIM is excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant through the Polk County – Health and Human Services Community Development Block Grant, A Community Need: Quality Health and Wellness Care for Polk County’s Working Uninsured Program.

Because of such grant funding, low and moderate-income individuals will benefit from an affordable public service – FREE ongoing and holistic, quality medical, dental and mental healthcare provided by Lakeland Volunteers In Medicine (LVIM). By responding to our community’s need, LVIM seeks to improve the health and well-being of 550 uninsured residents of Polk County who live in unincorporated Polk County, or Polk County CDBG Municipal Partner Cities.

We will help these patients get well and stay well, allowing them to maintain employment and provide for themselves and their families, and be productive citizens of their community. By keeping our patients healthy, with uninterrupted access to their medications and physicians, we are keeping these individuals out of the emergency room and/or urgent care center for non-acute care that is costly. The services LVIM provides makes healthcare available to individuals who otherwise could not afford it.

The treatment is FREE. The care is PRICELESS.
