September 2026 Volunteer of the Month
After 3 years and 9 months with LVIM and an incredible 1,769 volunteer hours, Carolyn Fulmer has definitely made her mark, although she’d probably prefer we not make too big a deal about it.
Carolyn first came to LVIM after her longtime friend and LVIM champion Jaquae Smith encouraged her to consider volunteering. What keeps her coming back? The people and the mission. She loves that everyone at LVIM is here because they want to be and that positive spirit is contagious.
Carolyn brings her professional background in writing, communication, and attention to detail to her volunteer work, helping with online patient applications and connecting with patients through written and phone communication. And, of course, there’s always the ongoing battle with Microsoft computers, a challenge she approaches with a healthy dose of humor. “There’s nothing intuitive about this computer.”
In addition to volunteering in the clinic, Carolyn has been an active member of LVIM’s Board of Trustees for the past two years, giving her time and talents both behind the scenes and at the heart of our mission.
When asked what she would tell someone considering volunteering at LVIM, Carolyn kept it simple:
“There’s probably no better place they could volunteer!”
We couldn’t agree more, Carolyn. We’re grateful for your time, your wisdom, your sense of humor, and the countless ways you help LVIM serve our community. 💙
