January 2026 Volunteer of the Month

For nearly two years, Jamil Zreik has been a familiar and trusted face around Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine. What started as a way to earn volunteer hours for school quickly turned into something more. After finding LVIM through a simple Google search, Jamil stepped into the clinic and was surprised that, for a free clinic run almost entirely by volunteers, the clinic felt professional, organized, and deeply committed to doing things right for patients.

Since then, Jamil has served in several roles, including lab assistant, clinical assistant, and now as a medical assistant, supporting multiple providers. In just under two years, he has already given 886 hours of his time to LVIM, showing up week after week with the same steady dedication and curiosity.

What keeps him coming back isn’t just the experience. For Jamil, one of the most meaningful parts of volunteering at LVIM is learning from the retired physicians who still choose to serve. He talks about the wisdom they share, not just medical knowledge, but the kind of insight that comes from years of caring for people. Working alongside providers like Dr. Chapman, who stays current with the latest practices and never stops studying, has helped shape how Jamil sees his future practicing medicine.

Outside of the exam room, Jamil also appreciates how every single role at LVIM plays a part in patient care. Whether someone is greeting patients, checking them in, or running labs, he believes each job is just as important as the next. It’s that team-first mindset that makes LVIM work.

For Jamil, being part of the LVIM volunteer family means helping people who might not otherwise be able to get care, and in doing so, creating a ripple effect that reaches far beyond the clinic walls. As he prepares for medical school, he carries those experiences and that sense of purpose with him.

We are so grateful for Jamil’s nearly two years of service, his 886 hours of dedication, and the heart he brings to LVIM every day. His story, passion, and commitment make him a perfect choice for January 2026 Volunteer of the Month.
