March 2025 Volunteer of the Month: Carol Umensetter
LVIM’s March 2025 Volunteer of the Month: Carol Umensetter
LVIM is proud to recognize Carol Umensetter as our March 2025 Volunteer of the Month!
Carol has been a dedicated LVIM volunteer since June 2023, and in that time, she has contributed an impressive 649 hours of service. She originally joined LVIM as a Friday Check-In Greeter, and in the fall of 2024, she expanded her role to include Clinical Assistant on Tuesdays, occasionally volunteering on Saturdays as well.
A retired nurse with over 30 years of experience in Louisville, KY, Carol has always had a passion for helping others. She first learned about LVIM through word of mouth and RP Funding, where she’s worked for 15 years. Before joining LVIM, she also volunteered at the hospital and cancer center, finding joy in giving back to the community.
For Carol, volunteering at LVIM is about more than just giving her time—it’s about the people. She loves working alongside like-minded individuals and has never had a patient or fellow volunteer who wasn’t kind. She describes LVIM as a pleasant place to volunteer and appreciates the flexibility, noting that “no one makes you feel bad if you have to miss a shift.”
Her advice to those considering volunteering? “Give it a chance.” Carol believes there’s a place for everyone at LVIM, regardless of experience: “There are a lot of things you can do at LVIM without any experience. I wish people would give it a chance.”
Thank you, Carol, for your dedication, compassion, and the kindness you bring to LVIM every day!
