Bringing Art to Life: LVIM’s Arts in Medicine Week
Last week, Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine celebrated Arts in Medicine Week, joining many organizations across the county, including the Watson Clinic Foundation, Lakeland Vision, and Florida Dance Theatre. The celebration aimed to integrate arts into the medical setting, enhancing the healing environment and fostering community engagement.
LVIM’s participation featured a display of mosaic tiles preserved from its original building, adding a touch of history and beauty to the celebration. Volunteers contributed by sharing their favorite recipes, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere filled with delicious aromas and culinary delights.
One of the most popular activities was the coloring table set up in the lobby. Adults and children waiting for their appointments had the opportunity to color bookmarks and pages, sparking conversations and connections among strangers. This creative activity encouraged a sense of community and camaraderie, turning waiting time into a joyful and interactive experience.
Due to its success, LVIM has decided to keep the coloring table in the lobby for a while longer, allowing patients and visitors to continue enjoying this engaging and therapeutic activity. Arts in Medicine Week at LVIM not only celebrated the arts, but also strengthened the community’s bonds, making the clinic a more vibrant and welcoming place for all.
