Not Just Another Number: A Patient Letter

To everyone at LVIM,

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the outstanding care and compassion I have received at your facility. From my very first visit, I have been treated with kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern, and it has made an incredible difference in my life.

Emma McMicken, APRN, has been absolutely exceptional. She is caring, thorough, knowledgeable, and truly attentive to my needs. She takes the time to listen carefully, explain things clearly, and make thoughtful recommendations to ensure I receive the care I need. What has touched me most is the way she follows up on conversations and concerns we have discussed. That level of attention and compassion is rare, and it has meant more to me than words can fully express. I can honestly say I have never experienced this level of care before.

Prior to coming to LVIM, many of my experiences in healthcare left me feeling stressed, dismissed, and unheard. Even when I was in significant pain and deeply concerned about my health, I struggled to receive the proper testing and attention I needed. I had to repeatedly advocate for myself just to receive X-rays, despite having insurance coverage. When the imaging was finally completed, it revealed a cervical disc issue that should have been addressed much sooner. In many places, I felt like I was treated as just another number rather than a person who genuinely needed help.

At LVIM, everything has been different. Your team goes far above and beyond what is expected. You have restored my faith that compassionate, patient-centered healthcare still exists. I truly did not think there were people and medical professionals as dedicated and caring as all of you.

While I may not remember every individual name, I want every single person at your facility to know how appreciated they are. From the wonderful ladies at the front door, to the staff who check patients in, the team members who helped register me as a new patient, the kind people who performed my X-rays, and the person who drew my blood and made me feel comfortable and cared for – every interaction I have had has been positive, welcoming, and professional. Not once have I had a bad experience. Every member of your team has treated me with warmth, dignity, patience, and respect.

I also deeply appreciate how many members of your staff, including my provider Emma, have tried to help me beyond just my immediate healthcare needs by offering additional services, guidance, and resources that could improve my overall well-being. It is clear that your team genuinely cares about the whole person, not just the medical issue being treated. That level of compassion and support is something truly special and very rare to find.

Thank you all for the remarkable work you do each day. Your compassion, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond do not go unnoticed, and I will always be deeply grateful for the care and support you have given me.
